General Chao – A modern take on that oh so popular Chinese cuisine in stylish Chatswood.

Located in one of Sydney’s premier dining districts – General Chao restaurant has a retro-Shanghai teahouse vibe that brings some exotic oriental style to the area. An expansive space with almost 200 seats, a cocktail bar and huge open plan kitchen – General Chao is an update on the usual Chinese restaurant format.

Mahallati Interiors and the General Chao owners consulted together on the design of the barstools, chairs and tables used in the inspired layout.

The materials chosen include Oak and Mahogany for the seats, backs and bases. Welded steel frames were the encouraged choice of bases for the barstools and the consequence is elegant and sturdy components. Fabric and leather types and colors that are complementary to the décor were researched and chosen for upholstering the stools and chairs. The Mahallati executed upholstery is comfortable and firm -being neither too soft, nor too hard. The experience of the Mahallti team coupled with the vision of the owners culminated in the correct choices for the wood and metal finishes. Tall this means that the look is chic, stylish and hardwearing in a commercial environment.
