Everyone loves to stay in the in the centre of Bali action that is Seminyak and everyone loves to stay in a homey guesthouse that reminds us of how we feel in our own home. Kosta Hostel has the ideal combination of these aspects in its mix with the emphasis of that comfy intimate feeling that a classic family home gives us.
In partnering with the owners of Kosta Hostel Mahallati interior’s brief was to consult on, design and manufacture the interior and outdoor furniture. The challenge here was to create a design format that emanates a feeling of community. The tried and tested materials of Teak and rattan pole are combined with modern powder-coating and synthetic rattan to give that desired look while ensuring the products will be hard-wearing and long lived.
Teak is always a first choice for tabletops both indoor and outdoor and at Kosta we have a segmented design affixed to a simple black powder-coated base. This design caters for groups of all sizes. Curved Rattan pole chairs are light, comfortable and strong. These ones are woven with Rehau synthetic rattan which is renowned for strength and colour fastness. The combination is attractive and reliable. Storage items made from painted Mahogany and stained Mahogany round out the fit-out while sofas and cushions provide areas for comfortable relaxing.
The design of Hostel or Guesthouse is a challenging in that is has to cater for a lot of traffic. It means that the homey, cottagey feel that we see in Kosta Hostel has to grab you right away and bring you in. Mahallati Interiors have achieved that effect with smart choices in materials, designs and layout. Adaptability – that is the key to success in this business – to be able to change one’s self to suit the task at hand.
